Halal
100% halal, without an asterisk
Updated
100% halal - the whole menu, the whole kitchen. No pork, no alcohol. At many restaurants, "halal options" means a separate corner of the menu and a shared grill. At Dolan's there is nothing to separate: Uyghur cuisine is halal by heritage, so the entire menu — every skewer, every noodle, every dessert — comes out of one halal kitchen.
That single fact answers most of the questions we get. No dish needs checking against a list. No cross-contact between halal and non-halal lines, because there is no non-halal line. Guests tell us this is why Dolan's became their family's default for birthdays and iftars alike — nobody at the table has to ask.
What that means in practice
- No pork, anywhere. Not on the menu, not in the walk-in, not in the building.
- No alcohol, anywhere. Nothing served, and no alcohol-based ingredients in any sauce or marinade — which is also why our tea culture runs so deep. The drinks list is teas, house-made lemonade and juice, yogurt drinks and sodas.
- One kitchen, one standard. Every dish in Alhambra and Irvine is prepared under the same practice, every day.
Why Uyghur food is naturally halal
Uyghur cooking developed in Muslim oasis communities of Central Asia, so its traditions were built halal from the start: lamb and chicken over charcoal, wheat noodles pulled by hand, breads from the tandoor, rice cooked with carrots and onion. Nothing had to be adapted for us to serve it halal in California — we simply cook the food the way it has always been cooked. If you are new to the cuisine, start with What is Uyghur food? or go straight to the full menu with prices.
